A heavy, sterling, handwrought footed meat tray, about 3 pounds, 4 ounces; from Sandborn's, Mexico; probably c. 1930s-40s; approximately 17" x 12"; and almost 2" high; marked: "3, MEXICO, SANDBORNS, STERLING" and owl mark; surface wear on the top from use and a few scratches on the reverse; otherwise fine condition.
The feet on this tray are very reminiscent of jewelry by Fred Davis. Davis was at Sandborn's for more than twenty years. Without the "FD" mark there can be no "direct attribution." (information from Mexican Silver by Carole Berk and Penny Morrill)
